Rebellious Attitude…Artistic State of Mind

Greensboro Portrait Photographer-H Family Portrait Session

Recent freezing temps did not stop these rock stars from getting some incredible early morning shots for their family portrait session. Lori and her children seemed game for anything and we took full advantage of their laid back attitudes by romping through wet, thorny terrain to reach some cool shooting spots. I even found myself crawling onto a precariously large pile of sticks and tree branches to capture a couple of cool images of Lori and Brea.

It’s such a high to walk away from a portrait session feeling amped from the energy of other people. We were so impressed with the close bond this mother shares with her children!  Lori and her family exude such warmth and enthusiasm for life, I wasn’t even bothered by the cold.   Thanks to the H-Family for being great sports and rocking this session!

Erica+Tyler E-session-Greensboro Wedding Photographer

Erica is a natural beauty and her beau, Tyler is just as handsome, so when we were scouting places for their e-session, a local stick sculpture was a natural and fun place to begin. Erica is a recent graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Tyler graduated from NC State.
Just spending a few seconds in their presence it is evident they have a strong frienship and spiritual connection. Here is what they had to say about their relationship:

Erica-
“What I love about Ty:  He is such a kind and humble person who genuinely listens and cares for everyone he meets.  I respect and admire Ty as a man of God, and I am so thankful that we have that foundation to our relationship. He has taught me how to show this love to other people and to see the joy in the little things. I have learned so much from him and I’m excited to continue to grow together!”

Tyler-
“What I love about Erica: She is my best friend and is such a joy to be around! She is the most genuine person I know and has such a loving heart. She is truly one of a kind and I feel so blessed to have her in my life and to be marrying her!”

It is so exciting to work with couples who are embarking on the beginning of their life together. Frayed Edge would like to wish them the best.

Enjoy some of our favorites from their session!

Samantha+Robert+Aiden Photo Session-High Point Family Portrait Photographer

Samantha, Robert and Aiden are a beautiful, fun-loving, family. Aiden is four and  takes playtime seriously. I am not kidding. This kid’s “playface” is intense. When he dons the blue cape, watch out!  Something magical is about to happen. His green rain boots scream: “Attention, everyone on the playground! Recess has just been kicked up a notch! Get outta my way!”

Frayed Edge enjoyed our family session with them. Here are a few of our favorites.

Triad Wedding Photographer-Carla’s Bridals-Clemmons NC

Frayed Edge met with Carla at Elysian Equine, in Clemmons, NC for her bridal portraits. The setting was gorgeously dotted with sunflowers here and there and the light was just perfect. Carla took time to pose with her horse, Donnie, a beautiful Hanovarian who was as at ease in front of the lens as Carla. Carla and her beau Brent were featured in an earlier post when we photographed their engagement portraits. Wedding photos will be coming soon! For now, enjoy this beauty in her bridal portraits.

Smoky Mountain Photographer- Danielle and Chase-Robbinsville, NC

Recently, Frayed Edge had the honor of photographing Chase and Danielle’s destination wedding at the beautiful Smoky Mountain Mansion in Robbinsville, NC.

During my communications with Danielle, I asked her a couple of questions about how they met and what drew them to one another.  Danielle had this to share:

“We actually met in the fourth grade. We sat next to each other and had a grade school crush on each other. We decided that we wanted to be boyfriend and girlfriend and pretty much from then on we were inseparable. My parents had to get a separate phone line in middle school because if we weren’t together at school or Pop Warner practice we were talking on the phone. As for what drew us together I am really not sure what it was, but it seems more appropriate to say that there was something that couldn’t keep us apart. Chase of course has a more comical explanation such as my orthodontic head gear and very bad perm but  even with those adorable additions he never went anywhere!”

Both Chase and Danielle were surrounded by friends and family during their wedding day and the atmosphere was filled with so much joy. The images that follow are our favorites from their day.

Side note: We also think it’s pretty cool that we share the same anniversary date!

Greensboro, North Carolina -Maternity Photographer- McH Family

The following portraits are some of my favorites from a maternity session. Thea, her husband and son are so excited about the arrival of their daughter/sister, so much in fact they were willing to beat the heat and shoot before 7 am. The newest addition to their family will arrive sometime next month. Frayed Edge wants to wish them the best and we can’t wait to meet their little princess once she arrives!

Greensboro, North Carolina-Portrait Photographer-Brother & Sister Shoot

This brother and sister shoot was filled with tons of laughter, crazy facial expressions, and typical brother/sister antics. Kelsey is the older of the two and spends much of her time studying at a Big Ten University. Zach is heading into his junior year of high school and is an outstanding lacrosse player.

We could go on and on about these two!

They are athletic and fun, full of energy, have great looks and both are brilliantly talented. Even though there was a lot of teasing and snarky comments toward one another during the shoot, it was apparent that these two share a close relationship.

It was an honor getting the chance to work with them.

Frayed Edge wishes them both the best of luck as they pursue their  individual dreams.

Greensboro Portrait Photographer-Carla+Brent

I met Brent over seven years ago while training for a marathon with our Greensboro’s Team in Training. At the time, Brent was a cycling coach for TNT.  From the day I met him, his enthusiasm for life and his desire to help others succeed in their own endeavors made him stand out among many of the other participants.

It has been several years since I trained with Team in Training so the only contact with Brent in the interim was through Facebook. I was thrilled when he contacted me a few months back to say he was getting married and he wanted Frayed Edge to do the photography.

I met Carla during our initial consultation with her and Brent. Not only is she gorgeous, but it is apparent that these two are a perfect match for each other. She shares his enthusiasm for cycling and they both have a sensational sense of humor as well as an air of fun surrounding them. I knew immediately  their e-session would be a blast. AND it was!

Carla and Brent tell me they met by chance when they both showed up for a Birthday Party.  Brent rolled up on his bicycle with his tail-light flashing. At first, Carla thought he was a dork, cute, but a dork, nonetheless.  When they were introduced, Brent hugged her and says she’s been smitten ever since.  ”Ok, Ok, I’m smitten too,” Brent said, “but it must have been the hug, really!!”

Through conversation they discovered all they had in common (such as an appreciation for bald heads) as well as a love for cycling. Their first “date” was at a cafe. Two days later Carla went to watch Brent race. Brent says “the spandex did her in.”  They have been together almost every day since.

“This is one of those amazing events in life that take you by surprise, but leave a lasting impression on your heart. When you know you know,” Carla said.

I’m am so looking forward to shooting her bridal portraits!

I’ll let their e-session speak for them now:
