The Edge of the Bow
Every time the edge of a bow drags across the strings of a fiddle, three quarter’s of a century of heartfelt music come alive in Galax, Virginia. Starting August 9-14th, the hometown I grew up in will become a haven for Bluegrass lovers everywhere. This small town of under 7,000 people will more than double it’s size during this week. The Galax Old Time Fiddler’s Convention has taken place since 1935 and each year it keeps getting better and better.
I’m really looking forward to loading up the bikes and heading that way this year. Maybe we’ll run into you guys while we’re there!!
The video below is an example of an impromptu jam session you might experience if you are lucky enough to attend the convention. Take the time to listen to the music. Even if you’re not a bluegrass fan, this music will grow on you.

I’ve always wanted to do this. My daughter was going to compete in one of the forums last year, but we just didn’t have the time to go.
This seems like such a great way to spend a weekend. 😉
