We loved shooting Ron and Michele’s wedding at Mt. Vale Vineyards in Galax, Virginia. We were honored to be a among the group of friends and family who had gathered along a hillside overlooking the vineyard to witness these two exchange vows and words of devotion.
Midway through the ceremony, everyone became highly entertained when Ron accidentally dropped Michele’s ring in the grass and had to spend a few seconds searching for it. Once it was recovered and placed on Michele’s hand, the couple shared a huge laugh before continuing with their nuptials. That was pretty cool!
The images that follow are a few of Frayed Edge’s favorites from their day.
Erica and Tyler were featured in an earlier blog post when Frayed Edge shot their engagement portraits last fall. These two have been a couple since high school. Their wedding was a celebration of not just their love for one another but their commitment to family and friends. The reception was an absolute blast to photograph and every age group brought their A game to the dance floor. We were honored to be a part of their special day.

Zoe’s “mom”, Del (aka Glitt-R-Done) from Greensboro Roller Derby, hired Frayed Edge before the holidays to get some shots for a calendar she was putting together for her family. We didn’t want to take the risk of blowing her surprise, so we didn’t share these earlier. Zoe was such a ham in front of the camera. I gave her a while to warm up to me and get used to the camera before we began her session. Once she was comfortable, she really rocked it out. The goal of the shoot was to get her hanging out around her house and posing in different costumes related to each month. Usually it is Del in the spotlight, since she’s a roller girl, but Zoe seemed to really enjoy having this spotlight to herself. Check out this cute little diva below. These were just a few of my personal favorites.
Lisa is a local hair stylist, single mom, and roller derby diva. This woman can do it all. I met her last year while participating in the 2011 Fresh Meat class with Greensboro Roller Derby. Her oldest daughter was a part of our Fresh Meat Class as well. In the year I have known Lisa, I have learned so much from her and what it means to be true to one’s spirit and REAL. She is tough. I mean tough. She hits hard on the flat track and pulls no punches when it comes to her family. She is 110% committed to her children and the bond she shares with them shows through in their portrait session. This family was a blast to photograph and Frayed Edge loves their style!
Samantha, Robert and Aiden are a beautiful, fun-loving, family. Aiden is four and takes playtime seriously. I am not kidding. This kid’s “playface” is intense. When he dons the blue cape, watch out! Something magical is about to happen. His green rain boots scream: “Attention, everyone on the playground! Recess has just been kicked up a notch! Get outta my way!”
Frayed Edge enjoyed our family session with them. Here are a few of our favorites.
