Our Blog site has moved to our main website.
We are now located under http://www.frayededgeconcepts.com. The move made more sense and everything will be in one place! YAY!
We want you to still visit and interact with us, so if you view our work, leave us a comment. We appreciate it when people stop by and make it personal.
Thanks for all the love and being there while we made this transition. We’ll be updating the blog regularly, so hop on board and join us every chance you get!
This photo session with Dana and her sons was a WINDY one in downtown Greensboro. We still had a bit of color on the trees but it was definitely blustery and extremely cold. Despite the weather, we had a great time and a lot of laughs! Jason and Ted were real sports through it all. Thanks, guys!!
Here are a few of my personal favorites from our session:
March 27th will be our first anniversary as Frayed Edge Concepts, LLC and we are so proud of what we have accomplished this past year! We have had our work featured in the Greensboro Roller Derby Calendar –Life is Better with Skates On this year (January and November) and we are currently working on a huge publication project with these girls right now! In the next few months, our wedding photography will be featured in Virginia Bride Magazine!!!
We have loved photographing the performances and individual portrait sessions with The Dance Center of Greensboro, where we have another huge shoot coming up this summer!!
We are so fortunate to be offered the opportunity to work with so many people to create some unique and quite creative portrait sessions each month.
For those who have worked with us, you know creative and unique photography doesn’t just happen. A lot goes into a portrait session long before the first click of the shutter.
In order to provide the most to our clients, we have to do some prying before the shoot. Sometimes these take place as questionnaires. Our questionnaires allow the client time to share his or her vision or expectations of their particular portrait session. We want the client to give us as much information as possible to make sure we capture the unique qualities of each subject we’ll be photographing during their session. When given the opportunity to fill out the questionnaire it is helpful to consider what sets YOU apart from others. What about your family, relationship, or yourself do you see as different from what others do? What can make your portrait stand out from traditional posed portraits?
That’s what we want to capture!
We personally love our “live” consultations. To us, this is where the fun part of what we do comes into play. If you have never taken the time to actually sit down and consult with a photographer before a shoot, you should consider doing so! Typically, engaged couples will do this when choosing a photographer, but I suggest families consult with us prior to a shoot. Especially if it is the first time working with us. During the time we are meeting with you, we are working toward building a trusting relationship. We are also observing expressions and interactions. We use what we learn from our consultations to plan flattering shots as well as capture certain expressions and mannerisms we observed during our time together. We pair this knowledge with the information from the questionnaire to guide the direction of our shoots. This prior knowledge helps us capture truer/more relaxed moments and get to the core of what you want your portraits to reflect!
What you get from Frayed Edge should reflect something deep, personal, and meaningful. We want you to feel comfortable to “go all out”. Believe me, we ain’t scared!! We are up for anything. We love adventure, wackiness, edginess, emotion, drama and art!
We will photograph you, your family, friends, you name it! We’ll do it!
Believe me, we’ll make it fun, enjoyable and relaxed. Your session should be all about you. It’s our goal for you to walk away from one of our sessions feeling like you had a great time!

In our last post, Mike wrote about an upcoming maternity session with a nature loving redhead. Well here she is, and she has to be one of the most fabulous people I have ever met!! Not only does she love to garden and walk in the woods, she is also a beginner beekeeper of 3 years or so. She has traveled to India, Sri Lanka, Southern Africa, Guinea, the Ivory Coast in West Africa, and most recently visited Mali and Italy…
She is truly an engaging and inspiring person!
Our first time meeting was during this session, but I felt like I had known her all my life. Jaime’s love for laughter and life is wonderfully contagious, in fact her vision for this shoot was to have a relaxed, creative, and fun session. Despite the 40 degree temp, I think we pulled it off. It was an honor for Frayed Edge to photograph her and we look forward to meeting her little one soon!!!

Erica is a great friend and is always so much fun to photograph! She’s a natural and the lens really loves her! She is a total fitness fiend and her efforts have really paid off these past several months. Erica has been a model for Frayed Edge several times, but this shoot was one where she hired us to capture the beauty of her pregnancy and to me, she is even more beautiful pregnant!!!
I absolutely love it.
Dae is such a high spirited, expressive child who really knows how to have a great time in front of the camera. I wish everyone we photograph could be this comfortable when the lens is pointed their way! Last year, she was only two when Frayed Edge photographed her with her mother at Topsail Beach. Some of the images from that shoot can be found here. Here she is representing her wonder with nature in a different time, place, and season.
