Bryce is a magnificent kid and Frayed Edge had the honor of photographing him a couple of years ago on his skateboard. This time, Bryce was competing in his final two track meets for his school. Bryce placed in both the shot put event as well as the 800 meter race. It was thrilling to watch both events through the lens. The concentration and intensity on his face is evidence of Bryce’s strong character and champion heart.
March 27th will be our first anniversary as Frayed Edge Concepts, LLC and we are so proud of what we have accomplished this past year! We have had our work featured in the Greensboro Roller Derby Calendar –Life is Better with Skates On this year (January and November) and we are currently working on a huge publication project with these girls right now! In the next few months, our wedding photography will be featured in Virginia Bride Magazine!!!
We have loved photographing the performances and individual portrait sessions with The Dance Center of Greensboro, where we have another huge shoot coming up this summer!!
We are so fortunate to be offered the opportunity to work with so many people to create some unique and quite creative portrait sessions each month.
For those who have worked with us, you know creative and unique photography doesn’t just happen. A lot goes into a portrait session long before the first click of the shutter.
In order to provide the most to our clients, we have to do some prying before the shoot. Sometimes these take place as questionnaires. Our questionnaires allow the client time to share his or her vision or expectations of their particular portrait session. We want the client to give us as much information as possible to make sure we capture the unique qualities of each subject we’ll be photographing during their session. When given the opportunity to fill out the questionnaire it is helpful to consider what sets YOU apart from others. What about your family, relationship, or yourself do you see as different from what others do? What can make your portrait stand out from traditional posed portraits?
That’s what we want to capture!
We personally love our “live” consultations. To us, this is where the fun part of what we do comes into play. If you have never taken the time to actually sit down and consult with a photographer before a shoot, you should consider doing so! Typically, engaged couples will do this when choosing a photographer, but I suggest families consult with us prior to a shoot. Especially if it is the first time working with us. During the time we are meeting with you, we are working toward building a trusting relationship. We are also observing expressions and interactions. We use what we learn from our consultations to plan flattering shots as well as capture certain expressions and mannerisms we observed during our time together. We pair this knowledge with the information from the questionnaire to guide the direction of our shoots. This prior knowledge helps us capture truer/more relaxed moments and get to the core of what you want your portraits to reflect!
What you get from Frayed Edge should reflect something deep, personal, and meaningful. We want you to feel comfortable to “go all out”. Believe me, we ain’t scared!! We are up for anything. We love adventure, wackiness, edginess, emotion, drama and art!
We will photograph you, your family, friends, you name it! We’ll do it!
Believe me, we’ll make it fun, enjoyable and relaxed. Your session should be all about you. It’s our goal for you to walk away from one of our sessions feeling like you had a great time!

Valentine’s Weekend was the perfect time to photograph these parents to be!
John and Michelle came to Jamestown from Chapel Hill to have us take their maternity photos. We were honored that John’s brother and sister-in-law contracted Frayed Edge as a “shower” gift for the couple! What a cool idea: maternity photos as a shower gift!!!
The maternity shoot last month in Asheboro was the first time someone had given a maternity photo session with Frayed Edge as a shower gift. We consider that a huge compliment!
These are just a few of our favs from the shoot with this fabulous couple. We can’t wait to meet the new addition to their family soon!
Greensboro-High Point-Event Photographer-The Dance Center of Greensboro-Nutcracker Suite Rehearsal and Performance
During the week of December 12th Frayed Edge photographed The Dance Center of Greensboro’s rehearsal and performance of The Nutcracker Suite. Working with Jeanne Alala, owner of The Dance Center of Greensboro is always a pleasure because Jeanne is such a skilled and caring teacher! The Dance Center of Greensboro’s motto of “Taught to Perfection” was reflected in the dancers’ enthusiasm and artistry during this performance. There were several times while shooting I was actually moved to tears.
These are just a few shots out of so many that I love from this shoot! (I will possibly post a part II of this post to share a few more at a later date!)
Erica is a great friend and is always so much fun to photograph! She’s a natural and the lens really loves her! She is a total fitness fiend and her efforts have really paid off these past several months. Erica has been a model for Frayed Edge several times, but this shoot was one where she hired us to capture the beauty of her pregnancy and to me, she is even more beautiful pregnant!!!
I absolutely love it.
Bonnie, Zach, and baby Dylan’s fall photo shoot was such a fun session for us. These guys make such a beautiful family!
Bonnie is a natural beauty with picture perfect skin-I’m so jealous!
Both Zach and Dylan are so playful and mischievous!
Enough from me, I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves.
