Stephanie and Jimmy are the most adorable couple ever. Frayed Edge had the honor of shooting their engagement session and during the short time we spent with them, it was clear that this couple is completely devoted to one another. They are both so comfortable and secure in their relationship, that it spilled over into their engagement shoot as well as their wedding day. Jimmy and Stephanie were married at the Smoky Mountain Mansion in Robbinsville, North Carolina, and despite the 102 degree temperatures in the mountains on June 30, (so unusual) this couple rocked it out big time and their guests seemed to love every minute of it. We had such a fabulous time and enjoyed sharing this special day with them both.
Mark and Tina’s photography themed wedding at the Harmon House in Kernersville was an absolute blast to shoot.
Mark is a very close friend. We became friends a few years back when I took several of his photography workshops. Being he is an amazingly skilled photographer, it was an absolute honor to have been given the opportunity to shoot his wedding!
Cass Griffin, a mutual friend of ours, did a spectacular job organizing and coordinating the entire event. I clearly see “Event Planning” in her future!
The following images are some of my favorites from Mark and Tina’s special day.
It is wonderful seeing them so happy together!
Much love to you both forever, Mark and Tina!
Frayed Edge is proud to be among the talented photographers featured in the current issue of VirginiaBride magazine. The Frayed Edge layout is from one of our favorite weddings between two of our favorite people – Megan and Topper – who tied the knot on top of a mountain in southwest Virginia. It’s always rather rewarding to get a little recognition, even if what we did to get it was as much play as it was work. And what better keepsake for a bride than to have her wedding showcased in a magazine?
Hold on to your copies, Megan. Your grandkids will love to see them one day.
During my communications with Danielle, I asked her a couple of questions about how they met and what drew them to one another. Danielle had this to share:
“We actually met in the fourth grade. We sat next to each other and had a grade school crush on each other. We decided that we wanted to be boyfriend and girlfriend and pretty much from then on we were inseparable. My parents had to get a separate phone line in middle school because if we weren’t together at school or Pop Warner practice we were talking on the phone. As for what drew us together I am really not sure what it was, but it seems more appropriate to say that there was something that couldn’t keep us apart. Chase of course has a more comical explanation such as my orthodontic head gear and very bad perm but even with those adorable additions he never went anywhere!”
Both Chase and Danielle were surrounded by friends and family during their wedding day and the atmosphere was filled with so much joy. The images that follow are our favorites from their day.
Side note: We also think it’s pretty cool that we share the same anniversary date!
March 27th will be our first anniversary as Frayed Edge Concepts, LLC and we are so proud of what we have accomplished this past year! We have had our work featured in the Greensboro Roller Derby Calendar –Life is Better with Skates On this year (January and November) and we are currently working on a huge publication project with these girls right now! In the next few months, our wedding photography will be featured in Virginia Bride Magazine!!!
We have loved photographing the performances and individual portrait sessions with The Dance Center of Greensboro, where we have another huge shoot coming up this summer!!
We are so fortunate to be offered the opportunity to work with so many people to create some unique and quite creative portrait sessions each month.
For those who have worked with us, you know creative and unique photography doesn’t just happen. A lot goes into a portrait session long before the first click of the shutter.
In order to provide the most to our clients, we have to do some prying before the shoot. Sometimes these take place as questionnaires. Our questionnaires allow the client time to share his or her vision or expectations of their particular portrait session. We want the client to give us as much information as possible to make sure we capture the unique qualities of each subject we’ll be photographing during their session. When given the opportunity to fill out the questionnaire it is helpful to consider what sets YOU apart from others. What about your family, relationship, or yourself do you see as different from what others do? What can make your portrait stand out from traditional posed portraits?
That’s what we want to capture!
We personally love our “live” consultations. To us, this is where the fun part of what we do comes into play. If you have never taken the time to actually sit down and consult with a photographer before a shoot, you should consider doing so! Typically, engaged couples will do this when choosing a photographer, but I suggest families consult with us prior to a shoot. Especially if it is the first time working with us. During the time we are meeting with you, we are working toward building a trusting relationship. We are also observing expressions and interactions. We use what we learn from our consultations to plan flattering shots as well as capture certain expressions and mannerisms we observed during our time together. We pair this knowledge with the information from the questionnaire to guide the direction of our shoots. This prior knowledge helps us capture truer/more relaxed moments and get to the core of what you want your portraits to reflect!
What you get from Frayed Edge should reflect something deep, personal, and meaningful. We want you to feel comfortable to “go all out”. Believe me, we ain’t scared!! We are up for anything. We love adventure, wackiness, edginess, emotion, drama and art!
We will photograph you, your family, friends, you name it! We’ll do it!
Believe me, we’ll make it fun, enjoyable and relaxed. Your session should be all about you. It’s our goal for you to walk away from one of our sessions feeling like you had a great time!

October, Frayed Edge Concepts, LLC, had the honor of photographing a beautiful lakeside wedding at High Rock Lake. James serves in the Marine Corps, and Candice is a personal trainer.
James and Candice met at a local gym where they both work out regularly, so it seems natural that the two of them would share a love of athletics and fitness. (They both sport a rockin’ six pack by the way… I know ‘cause I’ve seen pictures!)
They also share an amazing sense of humor and a love for the outdoors. Their lake side wedding at High Rock Lake in Lexington, North Carolina was the perfect setting for a small intimate ceremony shared with their closest family members and friends.
The following photos are some of our favorites from their special day.
